Installation:
The game needs to be burned to a CD-R in order to run on the Dreamcast. It can be done from the binary release with cdrecord (there are instructions available for this here).
The easy way is to download the latest nero or discjuggler images and burn them using the associated program.

Game mechanics:
Your ship has an energy and a shield-bar (in the colour of the ship). When the shield is depleted your player is taken out of action for the remainder of the round. Last ship flying wins the round.
Energy is used to fire shots and deploy mines. Your ship constantly gains more energy relative to how large your shield is. The drawbacks to increasing the size of your shield is that you become much slower, easier to hit and more vulnerable to mine explosions.
It's all about finding the right balance between staying mobile and having enough energy for the offensive manoeuvres.
When you cause damage to another ship, your ship earns 1/3 of what they lost. So being offensive really pays of.

When a new round starts, the game spawns one player for each controller device connected to the dreamcast console.
Adding more players in the middle of a game should be pretty problem free. Just insert more controllers and they will be in from the next round onwards. Remowing them however is a bit more problematic, and I suggest that you reset the game to the title menu before removing any controllers.

Controls:
  • Press Start to play the game, pause during gameplay or interrupt demo playback.

  • Use the analog stick or D-pad to control the direction of your ship. Please note: THE CONTROLS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THOSE FOUND IN ASTEROIDS. Your ships rotates towards the direction you point the controls, it doesn't keep spinning round and round if you hold left or right.

  • Use the right trigger or the arcade stick Z button to accelerate your ship.

  • Use the left trigger or the arcade stick C button to increase in size. The bigger you are the more energy you collect, but you also become much slower and easier to hit. How much energy you've got is shown in the white bar beneath the bar of your ships colour (your life bar).

  • Press the B button to deploy a mine. If you hold the B button for 1 second the mine will be released with the same momentum you're travelling with. If you just tap the B button quickly the mine will remain in position until something else affects it. You have to have sufficient energy in order to release a mine.

  • Press the A button to fire a shot. If you have less energy than a full shot requires, the shot you fire will be much less potent.

  • Press the Y button to exchange energy for a lifebar increase.

  • Press the X button to exchange life for a energy bar increase.

  • When a round has been won you'll go to the scoreboard menu. The player who won the round has control here. He can press A to view a replay of the round or Start to go to the next round.

  • If you press the B button in the PAUSE menu, the game will reset to the title screen.

  • If you are loading the game via dc-tool then you can exit to dc-tool again by pressing the Y button at the title screen.
